Today I exercised my birth right voting for democracy. Our election machine is NOT as strong as it should be. I applied for a election card two years ago. I still have none, for reasons best known to election commission. Can I, as a citizen of this great country, stop further process by a simple RTI? No idea. But that should be only a gimmick. not the real answer. But I can propose some improvements.
  • Change existing method of home identification. Let municipal corporation provide numbers along a road, like American system. This simplifies preparation of electoral rolls. Then finding name becomes a simple job and afterwards voting also.
  • Providing Voter identity card should be a simple process. --A voter comes in.-- identifies himself/herself along with existing proof-- his/her personal info is fed to an application -- Info as fed is shown to voter -- He/She presses a button accepting it -- his photograph is taken by a web cam and is attached to his/her info -- a location map is attached to this info as available through GOOGLE maps or any local service provider -- this is printed by a LASER printer in two copies -- one for file and one for voter -- voter's copy is cut to size laminated and is handed over -- Voter presses another button expressing his/her acceptance.-- period.... why the entire process cannot be as simple as that?
